| ibrepost With the weather turning cold, it is once again prime season for fuel leaks from fuel hoses that shrink from the cold. Please take 10 minutes out of your day/weekend to pop the hood and tighten every fuel line you can get a screwdriver on. Fuel leaks are incredibly dangerous, and totally preventable with a little common sense. Yesterday, I started noticing a slight fuel smell when my heater kicked in. I popped my hood to find a number of clamps that I was able to tighten by as much as a 1/4 turn. There were no signs of leaking fuel, just the odor. Dallas hasn't gotten anywhere near extreme cold, but just the temperature change from last August (when I had my plenum off) was enough to shrink the hoses by that much. And these are hoses that are less than a year old. If you have older hoses on your car, please take the time to inspect them thoroughly for cracking, bulging, fraying, or any signs of wear. Be sure to replace any worn or damaged hoses. The cold weather just makes it that much easier for them to fail, many times with catastrophic results.

And thanks to Guapo... I got my first ride in a Twinturbo... at speed... on a race track. I'll just say 'Damn' and leave it at that.- Tu 09/13/04 12:03:59 |
